What Makes Pelican Marsh Stand Out in North Naples?

Pelican Marsh Golf Club is a private, 18-hole championship course designed by Robert von Hagge, opened in 1994 and Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary certified. Club amenities include a grass driving range, clubhouse dining, a fitness center and studio, a community pool, nine tennis courts, six lighted pickleball courts, and three bocce courts.
The club has hosted competitive golf at the highest level, including the Champions Tour's Chubb Classic in 2000 and 2001, and underwent a full renovation in 2012 that rebuilt the greens, tees, and surrounds, earning Golf Inc. WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE ESTATES, PELICAN MARSH, AND BAY COLONY?
The Estates is a small enclave that belongs to both Pelican Marsh and Bay Colony at the same time, which is why it is addressed separately from the 26 neighborhoods listed above rather than counted as a standard Pelican Marsh neighborhood. Physically, The Estates sits entirely inside the gates of Pelican Marsh. On a map, it appears as an enclave completely surrounded by Pelican Marsh neighborhoods and golf holes, and because residents drive on Pelican Marsh roads and use Pelican Marsh's security gates, they are required members of the Pelican Marsh Master Association.
Legally, however, The Estates is structured differently. When the developer, WCI, built The Estates, it was legally attached to Bay Colony rather than Pelican Marsh. WCI structured it this way so that these specific homeowners would receive deeded, automatic membership to the exclusive, beachfront Bay Colony Beach Club on the Gulf of America, an amenity no other Pelican Marsh neighborhood offers. The result is a dual relationship: The Estates draws its physical setting, roads, and gated security from Pelican Marsh, while drawing its beach access and one additional golf club option from Bay Colony.
| Feature / Obligation | Pelican Marsh Relationship | Bay Colony Relationship |
|---|---|---|
| Physical Location | Yes — located inside the gates | No — the main Bay Colony community is miles away on the beach |
| Mandatory HOA Fees | Yes — pays Pelican Marsh master fees | Yes — pays Bay Colony master fees |
| Gated Security & Roads | Provided by Pelican Marsh gates | Has its own secondary internal Bay Colony gate |
| Inland Amenities | Access to the Pelican Marsh Community Center | Access to the private Bay Colony Golf Club |
| Beach & Ocean Access | None | Yes — full access to the private Bay Colony Beach Club |
