U.S. News analyzed data for the 150 largest metropolitan areas in the U.S. to evaluate how well they meet the retirement needs and expectations of the citizens. Top criteria include the happiness of local residents, housing affordability, tax rates and health care quality. To make the list, these areas had to have good value, be a desirable and affordable place to live, rank high among local residents in happiness, have a strong job market and a high quality of life.
